Ian Millhiser wants to replace 'very bad' Constitution with system ensuring 'free and fair elections'

In case you missed it, over the weekend, left-wing Lula was narrowly elected President of Brazil. That got Matt Yglesias to thinking about our next presidential election:

Yeah, well, that remains to be seen of course. Though we can always hope for further Democratic Party humiliation!

But let the record show that Vox senior correspondent Ian Millhiser doesn’t want to just wait around and see how it plays out. He wants to nip this thing in the bud right now, before things get any further out of hand:

I can’t help but wonder … if Joe Biden actually ends up winning the 2024 election — and that’s a big if, given the state of his physical and cognitive health as well as the current state of the Democratic Party — will that be a “free and fair election”? Will we still need to replace the United States Constitution because it’s “very bad”? What will Ian do then? Will his brain explode?

I know, I know … these aren’t really questions worth asking, because nobody seriously believes Ian Millhiser’s worth listening to. Still, he’s fun to kick around. And he makes it so gosh-darn easy.
