Last night, Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal issued a statement announcing that Elon Musk would not be joining the board of directors after all.
Elon has decided not to join our board. I sent a brief note to the company, sharing with you all here. pic.twitter.com/lfrXACavvk

Agrawal’s statement has received plenty of attention, including from MSNBC host — and conspiracy theorist — Joy Reid.
Here’s what Reid had to say about the matter:
For those of you playing along at home, the phrase that pays appears to be “background check…” 👀 https://t.co/4ePAjHasN7

What’s with the big-eyes emoji, Joy? Are you suggesting that it was the prospect of a background check that ultimately scared Elon Musk off? Because that’s what it sounds like you’re suggesting.
Right? Interesting.

Is it, though? Is it really? And no, Molly Jong-Fast’s opinion doesn’t count:
“Contingent on a background check” https://t.co/9jWb0B9YlD

Elon Musk doesn’t exactly have the most pristine hands (look no further than his infuriating, sickening loyalty to China and the CCP for proof). But seriously, the idea that a background check was the determining factor in Elon Musk’s decision not to join the board seems pretty out-there.
Maybe it’s just the commercial lawyer in me but I think this has zero to do with the background check and everything to do with the phase “a fiduciary of the company where he must act in the best interests of the company” that tells the tale.

Exactly. What would a background check uncover that TMZ wouldn’t have already broke?
— Fichwa! Fellow (@fichwa_fellow) April 11, 2022
Seems like a reasonable question. Which would explain why Joy Reid isn’t asking it.
Uh.
You think Elon Musk can't pass a backround check? One of the most visible humans on the planet? https://t.co/n6cGbN2xqK

One thing of which we can never accuse Joy Reid is being intelligent.
Joy Ann Reid is an absolute lunatic.
Alex Jones, at least, knows it's a show.
Reid BELIEVES her lunacy.
— RBe (@RBPundit) April 11, 2022
LOL of course you view it that way. Of course.
Guarantee on her show Joy will have a segment asking “what criminal activity caused Elon to not join the board?” https://t.co/AICNpf5YQT

We’d honestly be shocked if she didn’t.
