Before Eric Adams is sworn in as the next Mayor of New York City, he needs to know where his bread is buttered — and who’s going to butter it for him.
That means he can’t just ignore the will of the teachers’ unions.
And rest assured: the United Federation of Teachers will not be ignored.
UFT issues a warning to Adams: if testing doesn't increase in city schools + situation room backlogs aren't addressed, union is "going take a different position on this entire schools have to remain open"

Nice school you have there. Be a shame if something happened to it. https://t.co/5VzXjCH0QL

Nothing like a nice thuggish threat to get the holidays underway

Threats are OK if you pretend they’re For the Children.
But the NYTimes did a cover story of how Randi Weingarten was the hero of the pandemic and worked tirelessly to keep schools open. Don't tell me that was all a lie 😱 https://t.co/V7zY3oTg3R

Are you suggesting that Randi Weingarten is not the student-loving warrior princess that Michelle Goldberg says she is?
Hey @rweingarten looks like someone is trying to divide teachers and parents

Sure does.
Teachers union reminds incoming mayor who is actually in charge. https://t.co/v8aC1J1S6i

The Teachers Union is already trying to hold the new mayor at gunpoint. https://t.co/ZjGddaqP1X

The mayor and parents.
This is extortion https://t.co/BCcVmY8f3j

Hard to see it otherwise.
"Teacher's union threatens to close schools if they don't increase testing which will inevitably lead to schools being closed." https://t.co/S6fie6uiBm

UFT knows exactly what they’re doing. The question is whether or not Eric Adams is willing to stand up to them.
Teachers unions are anti-children. https://t.co/xd0Gdo50Nw
