NYT reporter Peter Baker sharing WaPo piece highlighting imprisoned Hong Kong freedom fighters rings decidedly hollow

New York Times chief White House correspondent Peter Baker took a moment today to shine a light on the plight of Hong Kong activists who have been imprisoned for speaking out against the Chinese Communist regime:

Our Independence Day is indeed the perfect occasion to think about those who are still fighting for their freedom. And the New York Times and Washington Post are among the last outlets who have any right to be reminding us about the plight of Hong Kong’s people.

The New York Times has, in fact, run Chinese government propaganda many, many times, including Chinese government propaganda that actually endangers freedom fighters in Hong Kong. And the Washington Post has been no slouch, either.

Until that happens, Baker, the New York Times, and the Washington Post can drop the faux concern.
