If you’ve been following our work over the past couple of weeks, you’ve probably noticed that we’ve had a decent amount of coverage of trans Montana State Rep. Zooey Zephyr. Or, rather, we’ve had a decent amount of coverage of the AP’s coverage of Montana State Rep. Zooey Zephyr. To recap:
- AP defends stunningly brave trans woman being mistreated by her Montana State House GOP colleagues
- AP drools over ‘silenced’ trans Montana Dem Rep. Zooey Zephyr with details of her stunning bravery
- AP does ANOTHER story on stunning and brave trans lawmaker Zooey Zephyr
Part of me would love to be able to totally ignore Zephyr, because it’s pretty clear at this point that the only thing she wants is attention. But if I ignore her, I can’t call her out for being an obnoxious parody of a person, and I need whatever fun in my life I can find. And so here I am, talking about Zooey Zephyr yet again.
Anyway, you’ll recall that the Montana State House voted (along party lines) to censure Zephyr and bar her from speaking on the floor for the remainder of the legislative session. Seemed like a reasonable measure, given that Zephyr had used her time on the floor to pre-emptively accuse her Republican colleagues of murdering trans kids. Well, the ACLU in their infinite wisdom and commitment to civil liberties has decided to help Zephyr fight back with a lawsuit that only further demonstrates that the ACLU has completely lost their way — and their minds:
BREAKING: The ACLU of Montana is suing to challenge the censure of state representative Zooey Zephyr.
The efforts to silence her violate both her First Amendment rights and the rights of her constituents to representation in state government.

How are Zephyr’s First Amendment rights being violated? She can still say whatever the hell she wants — and she does. She just violated Montana State House rules and is facing the consequences of her actions. She still represents her constituents. She can still vote in their best interest (although I get the feeling that she doesn’t actually take anyone’s interest other than her own into consideration when she’s voting on legislation). In short, the ACLU is full of you-know-what.

Actually Zooey tried silencing the voices of anyone who disagreed with her. Let’s make sure we stay in reality.

The ACLU left reality behind a long time ago.
This is not a free speech violation. Not in the least. It may be dumb politically, but that is another matter. https://t.co/fQqJp2pt5j

ACLU wants to legitimize anarchy in the Montana legislature.
