We’re thinking Dan Rather should probably sit this one.
May I suggest a reporter’s or news editor’s job should be to frame the story as the facts dictate – instead of letting those in power frame it as they wish. That’s more the job of a stenographer.

Dan.
The Godfather of fake news.
Making a suggestion about a reporter’s or a news editor’s job.
Now we’ve seen everything.
“Satire is dead,” he typed in a 1973 Word document.

….you are Dan Rather
— Andrew Donaldson (@four4thefire) September 21, 2019
It’s like he forgot.
Or in your case, a fabricator.
— Dick Trickle (@atlharp) September 23, 2019
Ouchville. Population you, bro.
Does that include authenticating documents before you smear a president you don't like? Like those facts? Like that kind of framing? Lordy.#KillianDocuments

A stenographer is to take down – verbatim – no exceptions – the words of the parties.
Man – the Kenneth-frequency guy really knocked something loose, didn't he?
— Sandy (@RightGlockMom) September 23, 2019
Dan, their job is to REPORT THE FACTS!! Not make things up, as you did, or to "frame the story". It's quite remarkable that you have still not learned this!

So when Joe Biden threatens to withhold aid to a country unless they fire an official investigating his son, how should that be reported or should it just be ignored?
— Scott Megason (@ScottMegason) September 22, 2019
Duh, of course.
How ironic.

HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
What if the ‘facts’ are false but accurate? Any suggestions on how to handle that, Danny?
— MikeP (@TheRealMike_P) September 23, 2019
This doesn’t seem to be going well for Dan.
Good grief. Seems to me a reporter or news editor’s job should be to report facts, not speculation.
— Ginny (@ginkates) September 22, 2019
You mean instead of just reporting the facts?
— dubs (@mrbigdubya) September 23, 2019
But reporting the facts is so BORING.
