We’re not entirely sure what Sen. Brian Schatz was trying to accomplish with this nasty tweet but it’s pretty safe to say he failed.
Badly.
Democrats do not have their own version of Joe Arpaio or Don Blankenship or Roy Moore. Our “extremists” just want everyone have education, healthcare, and housing.
— Brian Schatz (@brianschatz) May 7, 2018
Oh, we get it. Picking out caricatures of the GOP who seriously shouldn’t be running is some sort of gotcha.
Right. Forget that Trump himself has come out against Blankenship …
Hate to break this to Bri, but extremists come in all political flavors. Schatz-for-brains.
I should clarify that I know both parties have had plenty of objectionable people throughout history, it just seems very uneven this year, and Arpaio, Blankenship and Moore have no version of them on the D side in terms of Senate candidates.
— Brian Schatz (@brianschatz) May 7, 2018
He should clarify.
Right.
Seems the good senator from Hawaii is a tad confused about the extremists on his own side of the aisle. There are some fairly anti-Semitic Democrats out there, like the guy who blamed the Jews for controlling the weather?
I like the sentiment, but we do have anti-Semites like the DC councilman who was in the news recently. The Dems do a better job of keeping our such people from seeking higher office, though, for sure.
— John Bourke (@leberquesgue) May 7, 2018
And the GOP should do a better job as well.
That's a pretty one sided statement , anyone with an open mind and a little research can find plenty of crazy, far out there ,and racist politicians on both sides of the spectrum

Sadly, Americans have gotten a bit lazy when it comes to politics and who they support and vote for.
Oh, okay. pic.twitter.com/ceDRFdYXyc
— Lansford (@eserkes) May 7, 2018
We do have that Menendez dude who seems less than admirable, though.
— Grackle (@dphilton) May 7, 2018
Yeah.
Less than admirable, HA!
Conservatives had a good laugh at his tweet as well:
Have you met Alan Grayson?

Republicans want people to have fair ACCESS to all those things, too. But unlike liberals they are constrained by human nature & actual economics and don't live in a fantasy world of rainbows & unicorns where goods & services are "free". They understand limits & trade-offs.
— John Sheridan (@JohnSheridan12) May 7, 2018
It doesn’t take an extremist to know that in order for the government to give something to one person it must first take it from another.
That’s the reality of the federal government.
I'm impressed it only took 15 minutes of replies to your ridiculous argument for you to narrow it from "Democrats" to "in this pool of less than, say, 100 Democrats."
— Jim (@Ifitsthisname) May 7, 2018
But we suppose if Schatz wants to play this game …
No you have Harvey Weinstein, Bill Clinton, Kevin Spacey, Bill Cosby, Allison Mack, Louis C. K., Charlie Rose, Al Franken, John Conyers, Anthony Weiner, Elliot Spitzer, Bob Menendez, Bob Filner, Tony Mendoza, Ira Silverstein, David Wu, Bobby Scott, Ruben Kilhuen and Matt Lauer
— Scotts Tots (@SFLHOV) May 7, 2018
We’ll sit back and laugh.
*popcorn*
