WELP --> Buzzfeed reporter admits they've not seen evidence supporting their 'BOMBSHELL' on Trump, Cohen, and Trump Tower

Well, if Buzzfeed was trying to nuke whatever credibility they had left, they may have finally finished themselves off with this bombshell about Trump reportedly telling Michael Cohen to lie about the Trump Tower in Moscow.

From Mediaite:

Anthony Cormier is one of the two investigative reporter at BuzzfeedNews who co-authored the bombshell report published Thursday night — a report which claimed President Donald Trump directed his former lawyer Michael Cohen to lie during Congressional testimony over discussions between the Trump Organization and Russian authorities about a Trump Tower Moscow project.

Cormier appeared on CNN’s New Day and revealed that he had not seen the evidence underlying his report.

Host Alisyn Camerota opened the interview by asking Cormier if he had seen the evidence to which Cormier replied: “Not personally.” He then clarified that “he folks we have talked to — two officials we have spoken to are 100 percent read into that aspect of the Special Counsel’s investigation”.

Alrighty then.

Interestingly enough, Bethany Mandel called this possibility way earlier:

She continued.

Made us question it as well.

Ooh, and big points using a piece from The Atlantic – man, Bethany is good at this.

From the archives at cjr.org:

Leopold’s latest addition to his application for membership in the Stephen Glass school of journalism came on May 12 of this year, when he got what appeared to be the scoop of a lifetime. Now writing for Truthout.org, Leopold reported that Karl Rove “told President Bush and Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten, as well as a few other high level administration officials,” that he was about to be indicted in the Valerie Plame CIA leak case, “according to people knowledgeable about these discussions.”

Leopold claimed that multiple sources “confirmed Rove’s indictment is imminent. These individuals requested anonymity saying they were not authorized to speak publicly about Rove’s situation.”

Well, today we learned that special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald said he would not seek charges against Rove.

Seems Buzzfeed may have some ‘splainin’ to do.

We’ll keep you posted.
