This editor was simply heartbroken to hear of Aretha Franklin’s passing earlier today. She was truly the Queen of Soul with a voice unlike anyone else, and she is a loss the world will feel … thank goodness for streaming services that have all of Aretha’s greatest hits.
And thank goodness for big ol’ boxes of tissues.
On that note, Barack Obama honored Aretha Franklin in the only way he knows how:
Aretha helped define the American experience. In her voice, we could feel our history, all of it and in every shade—our power and our pain, our darkness and our light, our quest for redemption and our hard-won respect. May the Queen of Soul rest in eternal peace. pic.twitter.com/bfASqKlLc5

Granted, there are four pictures of Aretha here but notice a theme?
He always has to make these things about himself.
Even this.
But his ‘fans’ are more than happy to let him make this about him:
May the Queen of Soul rest in peace.
