Kirsten Gillibrand tweeting about how the number of women dying in childbirth is at the highest rate ever without giving any real details is your typical ploy to scare people into voting for her and other Democrats.
What they do is point out some epic, scary stat (without details) and then make a grandiose statement that eludes to the idea that they will fix it without ever really promising to do a damn thing.
Politicians, in general, have mastered this, but Democrats really seem to shine in this area:
Women in the U.S. are dying from childbirth at the highest rate of any developed country. This is unacceptable, and we must do better. We have work to do in ensuring access to high-quality, affordable health care for mothers.
— Kirsten Gillibrand (@SenGillibrand) August 3, 2018
Why are women in America dying at a higher rate? Now, Kirsten is trying to frame this as an issue with mothers being denied health care because of cost, which is crap. If you do the research you’ll see there are many factors involved that include but are not limited to:
- uninformed decisions
- obesity
- severe bleeding (mostly bleeding after childbirth)
- infections (usually after childbirth)
- high blood pressure during pregnancy (pre-eclampsia and eclampsia)
- unsafe abortion.
Notice there is nothing that says ‘access to affordable health care.’

We looked for this too, and the most recent data we could find was from 2015.
So … hard to say.
yeah, where I come from, they're called doctors

Fancy.
Guess you shouldn't have pushed out Al Franken, the strongest anti-trump fighter, from the Senate without an investigation.

HA HA HA HA HA
What are you going to say to @alfranken once he gets elected again? This should be a reality show.

Oh, we never get tired of watching Al Franken supporters bust on Kirsten.
The ACA didn't help? There is nothing affordable about he ACA, rationing would have been the end result had the GOP not gutted the mandate. Your one chance to completely destroy our health system, screwed by Democrat incompetence and Trump/GOP.

Wait, good point. We thought Obamacare was going to fix all of this … and it got worse.
Is she admitting everything the government tries to ‘fix’ only breaks further?
Hrm.
