Pete Buttigieg mixes Ranch dressing with salsa and he might as well drop out right now

Pete Buttigieg was asked at an event in Detroit about mixing Ranch dressing with salsa and he’s a fan:

Buttigieg may have just lost California. Asked if he eats salsa mixed with ranch dressing, he said that while he is a “purist,” he will partake in the combo “under certain circumstances” if someone else has prepared.

No, this isn’t a joke:

Who puts ranch in salsa??? https://t.co/4xLQWgCVOi

It was the first question asked, even:

To answer Qs re Buttigieg/salsa/ranch:
1. Salsa/ranch birthplace appears to be Tex-Mex restaurant Hacienda in South Bend
2. Moderator read audience Qs after Buttigieg spoke in Detroit. This was 1st Q. Rest were substantive
3. In CA, they wld revoke your residency if you ate this https://t.co/DEaMfUabgt

This is our reaction:

Fox News’ Dana Perino appears to like the combo as well:

Oh it’s a thing.

Dana no

Jerry yes

But why can’t Buttigieg just defend it and not waffle?

this is the lamest waffling answer i have ever seen. if you're nasty and mix ranch with salsa just own up to it man https://t.co/mpv0WbLN1t

Apparently, it’s an Indiana thing:

.@HaleighHoffman says there’s a restaurant in South Bend that serves salsa with ranch so I guess that kind of explains it? pic.twitter.com/9kZ1oFN6Zv

This:

we sure that's just not a South Bend Taco Bell that got a little too creative one Friday night

And let’s hope it doesn’t spread to the rest of the midwest:

I've lived in the Midwest my entire life save for a year in Florida and I have never once heard of anyone mixing salsa with ranch dressing. https://t.co/3Fbev8Ukdh

Now, how will this play on the campaign trail?

Arizona is gone. But he may have just won Texas https://t.co/p2cfBVjbzI

Just call it quits, Mayor Pete:

This could be the biggest "game over" moment of the 2020 election. https://t.co/JvQsGqBVC0

It’s over:

Too bad… he had my vote https://t.co/dFQtipvJt1
