SELF-OWN: Ilhan Omar releases audio of Politico interview to show she was misquoted, ends up proving she was quoted accurately instead

Rep. Ilhan Omar accused Politico’s Tim Alberta of distorting her words in an article that went live this morning and she posted the audio of the interview to prove it:

Exhibit A of how reporters distort words.

I’m an Obama fan! I was saying how Trump is different from Obama, and why we should focus on policy not politics.

This is why I always tape my interviews. ? https://t.co/iZOAEslo1c https://t.co/8rjIq5LfxD

And the audio literally proves that Alberta did not misquote her:

If one of my reporters filed that story and then I heard @Ilhan's tape, I would say they … had quite accurately described and contextualized her position. https://t.co/KhHPxbWlxc

i mean, it sounds like politico presented the quote perfectly in context — and it was an great quote so i'm not sure what the issue is https://t.co/ygAty1eCYc

I'm also glad @Ilhan recorded it. The story seems like a totally fair representation of what the tape contains. @blakehounshell didn't distort anything. https://t.co/kH3CIJRE4s

As Martosko writes, “you be the judge”:

So @Ilhan Omar has released audio of what she said about Trump and Obama. She claims she was quoted out of context and that she's an Obama fan. Here's the transcript. You be the judge. cc: @blakehounshell @TimAlberta pic.twitter.com/a3IKhh5bAZ
