As we told you last night, Dems are counting on young voters to bring them into power come November. Bust as MSNBC reporter Jacob Soboroff found on the campus of UC Irvine, young voters actually couldn’t care less (at least the ones he interviewed anyway):
Shocking.
Watch what happened when I asked a bus stop full of CA students if they'd vote in their *key* midterm district.
Bueller?
While Trump's latest fire drill is underway, here's something else to think about: why young Americans don't vote.

According to celebrity socialist Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, this is because politicians aren’t talking enough about the issues that young people want to talk about, like this:
How do you turn out young voters?
Same way you turn out any other electorate. Champion the issues that matter to us:
✅ Federal Jobs Guarantee & Green New Deal
✅ Student Debt Cancellation
✅ Legalize Cannabis
✅ Pass the DREAM Act
✅ End School-to-Prison Pipeline https://t.co/2d0YCzGXrv— Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@Ocasio2018) October 10, 2018
However, some of the people on campus criticized Soboroff for not portraying an “accurate representation” of what’s really going on:
as a current student at UC Irvine, I’d like to say that this ONE bus stop isn’t an accurate representation of this campus at all; plenty kids here are woke & do know the importance of voting—there are also people everywhere on campus ready to help you register & inform you pic.twitter.com/a1kXm096od

Why would they want to talk to a reporter anyway?
Recommended
Exactly! I'm the same age as these people and I would have just ignored the guy with the camera yelling. It's weird, and I just want to live my life! And I AM voting!

That’s fair, he says:
Completely fair. I don't doubt it. Thanks for being in touch.

But this apathy isn’t an anomaly. Soboroff has found during his other stops that what people in the politics bubble talk about is entirely different than what average Americans want to talk about:
Strong reactions, so here's more of our "What Matters?" series.
Keep hearing how DC and us in news don't get real life.
No wonder many don't trust politics.
