There have been some pretty awful takes from the media in the wake of Don Lemon's arrest for organizing and participating in a terror attack on a church in Minneapolis.
Jim Acosta (sorry, I can't even type his name anymore without laughing) has claimed that Lemon was only arrested because he's black. Apparently, Acosta is trying out for Joy Reid or Cornel West's gig.
Amanda Carpenter (who?) and many others have claimed that carrying a cell phone camera automatically qualifies anyone as a journalist who is immune from any criminal prosecution.
And, of course, everyone in leftist media and influencer circles is shrieking their favorite lament: 'This is a threat to democracy!'
One of the worst takes of all, however, came from the least surprising of sources -- Mother Jones. Yesterday, the outlet best known for hating Christmas and spreading fake rape hoax stories chimed in with the (pardon the pun) mother of all First Amendment misreadings.
Apparently, if a Christian church offends them, that church doesn't get to enjoy 1A protections.
One detail getting lost in the coverage of Don Lemon's arrest?

The church at the center of the case has ties to the Christian nationalist movement, including the “TheoBros," a loose network of mostly millennial, extremely online Christian nationalist pastors, podcasters, and…
LOL. Uh-oh! They're 'Christian nationalists' (whatever that means).
That means that Lemon and his cohorts are free to burst in to terrorize children in Sunday school and block exits so no one can leave.
What got lost in the flurry of coverage was the connection between Cities Church and a Christian nationalist movement that has gained increasing clout and has strong connections to the Trump administration. Cities Church was founded in part by a pastor named Joe Rigney, a close associate of Doug Wilson, whose Christian nationalist fiefdom centered in Moscow, Idaho, has gained a national following.
Wilson and his movement have ties to the Trump administration. US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth attends a Tennessee church in the denomination that Wilson founded, the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches, and he has been spotted at Wilson’s newest CREC church in Washington, DC.
Well, there you have it. Pete Hegseth attends a similar church 1,000 miles away.
See? THEY'RE ALL CONNECTED.
Someone needs a new tinfoil hat. And her name is Kiera Butler.
Geezus. https://t.co/3UaPDL7Zzy

My expectations for Mother Jones are always low, but still.
Your point? https://t.co/NMbmA54lmf

Mother Jones has no point. They often have no point. It's part of their complete lack of charm.
“Those Christians had it coming.” https://t.co/3TaGYTBqZx

Make no mistake. This is EXACTLY what Mother Jones is saying.
They don't like the Christians who worship in this church (actually, they don't like any Christians anywhere), so those Christians have no rights. Domestic terrorists like Lemon should be free to do whatever they want with impunity.
Ohhhhh so there was a tenuous connection between a guy at the church and another guy....in that case, f*** dem kids. Y'all are absolutely shameless, vile, and idiotic. pic.twitter.com/2ivAoBnnzl

Totally acceptable then to violate the Constitution and do violence on those people. I mean, it's right there in 1A. "Except for when Mother Jones thinks they're Christian nationalist." Big letters too, with pictures.

If there's ever a day when Mother Jones ISN'T shameless, vile, idiotic, and foolish, it will be a first.
Fortunately, for America, that's not how the First Amendment works.
When the Founders wrote the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, they didn't include carve-outs to deny our God-given rights for any time leftists came up with a new conspiracy theory.
On the contrary, if those framers could see how violently modern-day Democrats are attacking Christians, they might sit down to write a whole new amendment.
'The full exercise and freedom of religion is NOT contingent on some woke AFWL at a silly media rag coming up with batpoop crazy conspiracies because she got her feelings hurt while four boxes of wine deep. And fired CNN hosts don't get to terrorize Christian children because they're holding a camera and a microphone -- whatever those infernal devices are.'
Well, something like that, anyway.
James Madison probably could have said it better.
For now, let's just call it Amendment 1A.
