One of my favorite traits of Donald Trump as a politician is quite simple: What you see and hear is what you get. Whether Trump is speaking to a room of rich people or to farmers in Iowa, he's the same guy wearing a suit and not putting on any pandering clothing or fake accents. The same is not true for many other politicians, and Texas Senate candidate James Talarico is one of the most glaring recent examples of a campaign trail chameleon.
Let's start with Talarico's "non-meat campaign":
In 2022, James Talarico said it’s “existential” to reduce meat consumption to fight climate change.

"I am proud to say that our campaign has officially become a non-meat campaign... We are only buying vegan products from our local vegan businesses." pic.twitter.com/tz6K1aGYsy
Apparently that wasn't playing really well in the Lone Star State, because Team Talarico followed up this way:
Official statement from @JamesTalarico on vegan accusations pic.twitter.com/pLwtlknBYj
— JT Ennis (@jt_ennis) March 18, 2026
Notice how the candidate's own previous comments are called "accusations."
This was also a doozy:

— Dallas Morning News (@dallasnews) June 6, 2026
He looks like he's about to get more nauseous than Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey when he was pretending to enjoy Somali food.
Talarico's also going to ramp up the pro-Second Amendment phoniness while hoping nobody remembers the things he said not all that long ago:
James Talarico is lying when he says he's "a believer in the Second Amendment."
— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) June 8, 2026
Talarico said having guns "encourages violence against black sons and black daughters," led legislation restricting handgun sales, & tried to prevent Texas from being a constitutional carry state. pic.twitter.com/N8zcongq4I
Texans aren't going to buy these insulting flip-flops, are they?
Talarico has also said he's a "border security Democrat," which automatically gets flagged as a lie because there aren't any these days (with the possible exception of Fetterman). Especially this guy:
James Talarico lies and says he is a "border security Democrat."
— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) June 8, 2026
Talarico said "we should treat our southern border like our front porch," called to defund law enforcement, slanders ICE as "secret police," and thinks Obama's failed border policy was too extreme. pic.twitter.com/Pk7ttjKVh3
Oil and gas job hypocrisy?
You got it:
James Talarico: “We have to protect good paying oil and gas jobs.”
— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) June 8, 2026
Talarico introduced a bill in the Texas Legislature to try and eliminate the oil and gas industry in Texas.
Talarico is a fraud. pic.twitter.com/5GP9iDDVuI
The list of Talarico flip flops goes on and on...
James Talarico — who literally voted in favor of child gender mutilations — lies that he opposes sex changes for children.
— RNC Research (@RNCResearch) June 8, 2026
Talarico has also said denying the gender mutilation of children is "abuse" and he "loves" "trans children." pic.twitter.com/nJAy2W0WXh
Simply put, Talarico's a lunatic and his campaign is trying to cover up his straitjacket.
The Dems are now trying to turn him into somebody else, and it's a laughable fail:
The more I think of this picture the more I have to laugh.
— Snarknado ⚓️ 🇺🇸 (@ZannSuz) June 2, 2026
Democrats are straight up delusional. They are tanking hard with men so their solution is to shove forward this limp wristed Talarico clown who hates everything real Texas stands for.
Now they slap a pristine cowboy hat… pic.twitter.com/s7aDYU0rYm
LOL! Talarico makes Tim Walz look like John Wayne by comparison.
If Talarico doesn't lose by at least ten points Texans will be doing Texas wrong.
