It's no secret that NBC News is just another of the many extensions of the White House and DNC press offices in the mainstream media, but watching it happen on an almost daily basis is a propagandistic sight to behold. The journalistic malpractice is so egregious that here's a little game I like to play called "NBC News Story or Biden White House Press Release?" The correct answer is always "NBC News story," though they know they're doing the bidding of the Biden White House so the answer could also be "a little of both."
Today's example involves the popularity of Florida and an obvious attempt on the part of NBC News to help lefties like California Gov. Gavin Newsom support their desired narratives. One of those attempted narratives is to portray Florida under Gov. Ron DeSantis as an anti-freedom hellscape that people are fleeing:
Florida leads the nation in book bans.
— Gavin Newsom (@GavinNewsom) December 1, 2023
Ron is on a banning binge and a cultural purge.
Freedom of speech means nothing to him.
Florida isn't a state of freedom. It's a state of fear. pic.twitter.com/RTn9orNV53
Fox News’ myth of the Great Exodus of CA is simply not true. Here are the facts. pic.twitter.com/LfXTGKOTgR
— Gavin Newsom (@GavinNewsom) June 17, 2023
During Newsom's debate with DeSantis last year, the California governor claimed that more people moved from Florida to California than vice versa while hoping that anybody watching didn't care to do the math.
Newsom: “The last two years, more Floridians went to California than Californians going to Florida. That will be fun to fact check.”

2022:
Ca to FL: 50,701
FL to CA: 28,557
2021:
CA to FL: 37,464
FL to CA: 24,692 pic.twitter.com/fuwt0bnm4k
Newsom got an assist from Politifact, making it a "per capita" thing to rule Newsom's claim as "mostly true" when the raw numbers say otherwise.
In other words, being a Democrat means having the media spin machine on your side, and such is the case with yet another NBC News story obviously designed to help the Left out with their desired narrative about Florida:

The Sunshine State isn't always as sunny as it may seem.
— NBC News (@NBCNews) March 31, 2024
Hundreds of thousands of new residents have flocked to Florida with the promise of beautiful weather and no income tax.
But nearly 500,000 left in 2022, according to the most recent Census data. https://t.co/jjg0NjFxxZ
They came for Florida's sun and sand. They got soaring costs and a culture war. https://t.co/FlFsPAolQj via @nbcnews

So that's the headline designed to help out Democrats with their BS spin, but on the other side of the coin there's this:
Florida has had a population boom over the past several years, with more than 700,000 people moving there in 2022, and it was the second-fastest-growing state as of July 2023, according to Census Bureau data. While there are some indications that migration to the state has slowed from its pandemic highs, only Texas saw more one-way U-Haul moves into the state than Florida last year. Mortgage application data indicated there were nearly two homebuyers moving to Florida in 2023 for every one leaving, according to data analytics firm CoreLogic.
The "people are fleeing the DeSantis dictatorship in Florida" ledes just don't hold water. The "culture war" media spin is also a load of crap, because claims about "don't say gay laws," "book bans" and lots more are 100 percent lies spread with the help of NBC News, the Associated Press and all the rest.
You’ve posted this multiple times but within article you admit more move in than out. It is almost like you are just trying to bash a state with lies of omission in your phrasing here due to your liberal bias.
