If you’re old enough you’ve already lived through several “we have ____ years to do something or humanity is doomed” cycles. Those come and go every decade or so. My personal favorite recent example of moving the climate goalposts happened at the start of 2020 when Glacier National Park had to get rid of signs that told park visitors that the glaciers would be gone by 2020:
The signs at Glacier National Park warning that its signature glaciers would be gone by 2020 are being changed. They were added more than a decade ago to reflect climate change forecasts at the time by the US Geological Survey, a park spokeswoman says. https://t.co/5NkzFc7xJR

That kind of embarrassment hasn’t caused the eco-alarmists to give it a rest, especially when it comes to the United Nations. Unfortunately, they know the media will help amplify their attempts to freak everybody out.
Today’s example comes from the New York Times, which never tires of discrediting itself:
Breaking News: Earth is likely to cross a critical global warming threshold within the next decade unless drastic changes are made, a major UN report said.https://t.co/Mkb8l3Ry24 pic.twitter.com/tD1DImteEa

Didn’t everybody already die about 25 years ago from this?
Quick- everyone jump on their private jets to discuss this *immediately*! https://t.co/HCrwQmrnba

This is of course all about money and power:
The earth will die unless you give us more money and power!

Maybe I shouldn’t have singled out the Times, because it’s no surprise that most media outlets are picking up the latest doomsday cult fear-mongering. This is the USA Today:
Now they’re just getting lazy. The “we’re gonna die from climate change soon” accompanied by a picture of fire is as *yawn* as it gets.
