Hold onto your hats! There is new information about the government's theory in the Ilhan Omar case and it's a doozy.

The government used several names for Omar on the search warrant. It's a sealed warrant, but the names are public. They did that for a specific reason (and it will likely aggravate the judge trying to keep everything secret for now).
That is going to draw the ire of Judge Boasberg. That was planted in there intentionally to publish a non-public fact in a matter still pending before the GJ and about a SW that is still sealed.

They are trolling on purpose and it worked.
Seems clear to me now that the theory is going to be that she was NOT related to the person she claimed was her father, so she could NOT get derivative citizenship via his naturalization whether he ever was naturalized or not. She has been an undocumented alien in the US her entire life because her real father remained in Great Britain when she came to the U.S. with a different family who lied about her being their daughter. This is why they wanted DNA of her sister, and already had DNA of her husband/brother. There is reporting that this all kicked off recently over a group text message on her sister's phone -- LIKELY obtained in connection with the fraud investigations in Minneapolis that involve her sister. THAT's why they wanted her phone so badly -- to find the same message on her phone. She's probably in the group chat that was found on her sister's phone. The message must reveal some information about them not being part of the same family. If she acknowledged knowing that was the case, then she has lied numerous times as an adult about what she knew about her lineage and whether she was naturalized. Lying about citizenship is a federal crime.

So, it's possible her father was never really her father. She came over with another family and she was never really part of that family.
Also, much of this may have come to light because of an investigation into her sister for fraudulent activities. That's a whole other case, but it seems a family group chat may have her caught up.
@shipwreckedcrew I read Ilhan's book. My guess is Ilhan's father assumed the identity of a man and his family who perished in the refugee camp in Kenya. Ilhan's father used their names to get refugee status in the US for himself + 3 of his own kids. His oldest 3 kids went to UK on their own names

Other sleuths have their own theories of what went down.
If that is true, then it seems to me she cannot be denaturalised because she was never naturalised in the first place. The naturalization was of a fictional person who does not exist, b/c no person with that father & mother was ever born on or near that birthdate. Then it's just an administrative question of reversing any grant of citizenship nunc pro tunc because the person it was purportedly granted to literally does not exist. I don't see how she would even have standing to contest such a reversal without proving she is that person - which she could not do.
