There continues to be a lot of buzz about last night’s Academy Awards show, and very little of it has anything to do with any of the movies. Actor Will Smith smacking presenter Chris Rock after his “G.I. Jane II” joke about his wife is what everybody’s still talking about, and CNN reported it in the most CNN way possible:
Will Smith won his first Academy Award on Sunday night and offered his apologies to the Academy and others for an earlier incident in which the actor appeared to strike presenter Chris Rock. https://t.co/4ZnOiez7r2

That’s got “fiery but mostly peaceful” written all over it!
"appeared"?@CNN : It was a mostly peaceful physical assault. https://t.co/ooC7UOnb68

THIS. Is CNN.
"Appeared to strike…"
What has happened to this network? https://t.co/2gs2bjAn25

This is how bad @CNN is
Will Smith didn’t “appear to strike Chris Rock”
It was on video.
Chris Rock said it.
Will Smith actually apologized
If there was an Oscar for pretending to be a news organization you’d be in your category https://t.co/dapzkDW5NT

The Academy Awards later tweeted that they don’t condone violence, but they gave Smith the Best Actor Oscar not long after he hit Rock, so go figure.
