Beto O'Rourke promised to confiscate Americans' guns by force if necessary, and Dan Rather thinks this GOPer's reaction is 'simply outrageous'

As we told you earlier, Texas State Rep. Briscoe Cain’s responded to Beto O’Rourke’s vow to “take your AR-15” by tweeting “my AR is ready for you Robert Francis.” Cain’s tweet was taken down by Twitter. O’Rourke said that constitutes a “death threat,” and former CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather responded this way:

Does Rather also find anything disturbing about what O’Rourke has promised to do if he’s ever elected president?

I agree, Dan. The Second Amendment is sacrosanct and Robert Francis O’Rourke’s threats directed at millions of law abiding gun owners are wholly inappropriate. If Beta wants ‘em, he can come and try.

We doubt Rather will be critical of the Democrats’ radical proposals as he is of the Republican reaction. Here’s Dan’s assessment of last night’s proceedings:
