Yesterday, we told you about reports of an FEC complaint alleging wrongdoing involving Rep. Ocasio-Cortez’s chief of staff:
We’ve been waiting for Democratic Twitter tutor Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to blame misogyny or climate change or something else for that FEC complaint alleging that two PACs funneled $1 million of campaign contributions into two of her chief of staff Saikat Chakrabarti’s private companies. A former FEC commissioner even told The Daily Caller that Ocasio-Cortez and Chakrabarti could be facing jail time if prosecutors could find intent.
The usually very talkative AOC had nothing to say about this after being asked about it by reporters, but the mainstream media is starting to catch on after other media led the way. Here’s how the Washington Post acknowledged the origins of the AOC scoop:
Washington Post reports on huge @alanagoodman @dcexaminer scoop about AOC campaign corruption as "first reported by conservative outlets," which is technically true but come on. pic.twitter.com/7NJzglxgZN

Maybe next time @washingtonpost breaks a story, other publications should write that it was 'first reported by liberal outlets.' (The AOC piece in question was in fact first reported by @dcexaminer @alanagoodman)

Well, that’s something.
It is an improvement from “conservatives pounce” though.

1) Better than “pounce.” 2) Glad they’re reporting on it & attributing credit. https://t.co/bsmq8tqPel

Ha! A little bit better than “pounce.”
Why was it first reported by conservative outlets? https://t.co/XoyeTvoWJp

How about: "The arrangement, on which we were completely de-pantsed by legitimate journalists…"
Or: "The arrangement, which we would not ever have mentioned except for having been thoroughly scooped by independent media outlets…"
Both of these are equally true and clear.

So they admitted the liberal outlets failed to do their job

Bad look @washingtonpost https://t.co/mAgKvxxKkE

also, the complaint was filed by "a conservative group." Conservatives don't rate names, just the tribal signifier, so liberal Post readers know how to feel about it. https://t.co/DxPpg5GvFc

Wow. @AlanaGoodman at @DCExaminer had a great piece on this. And @AndrewKerrNC at @DailyCaller did some good reporting on it too.

Feel free to link them too, @WashingtonPost. https://t.co/8y9OC5KvPx
