On Thursday night CNN carried a town hall meeting with Texas Democrat Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke, and the cable net said that Ted Cruz was also invited but declined:

CNN invited Sen. Ted Cruz multiple times to appear tonight in his own town hall, but he declined. https://t.co/INsumHYm0t https://t.co/aZx3cCozYf

One awkward moment came when O’Rourke was asked about comments made by Donald Trump Jr. about his nickname, and why he goes by it. Try not to get dizzy from all the spin:
A student at @CNN's TX town hall addresses Robert O'Rourke's decision to go by "Beto."
"Throughout the campaign, you have been attacked for being what @DonaldJTrumpJr has called 'an Irish guy pretending to be Hispanic,'" the student said.

He tried. And not everybody’s buying what O’Rourke’s selling:
Yeah, that doesn't make you Hispanic or Latino. Your neighborhood has ZERO to do with your heritage and skin color. Robert Francis.

Democrats must love that @CNN is wasting that infomercial in Texas when they have so many other candidates on the ropes

Story could be true, but are there any records of him going by Beto? High School yearbook? Just curious

The Democrats’ high school yearbook curiosity appears to have extended only as far as Brett Kavanaugh.
