Details in Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s Green New Deal proposal have sent many heads to desks and palms to faces. One example had to do with a section about “farting cows” and getting rid of airplanes asap:

And that’s when Washington Post political reporter Dave Weigel came to AOC’s defense, saying that the proposal doesn’t really say what it says:

Weigel also addressed the “farting cows” and defended AOC from ridicule of the proposal:

A member of Congress has made a proposal that would cost in the tens of trillions if not more and there are parts not meant to be taken literally?

“Knowing empowers us. Knowing helps us decide. Knowing keeps us free”… except maybe not literally.

We look forward to Rep. Ocasio-Cortez helping the media point out which parts of the Green New Deal proposal aren’t to be taken literally.
