Appeals Court Tosses Rep. LaMonica McIver's Claim of Legislative Immunity

It was back in May 2025 that Rep. LaMonica McIver tried to play the victim after assaulting an ICE agent on camera while trying to storm an ICE detention facility. Did we say storm? We meant that she was trying to provide congressional oversight. "The way we were treated at Delaney Hall is almost unbelievable," she posted on X, saying that ICE shoved her, disrespected her, and tried to prevent her from conducting the oversight she'd been elected to do. In June, a federal grand jury returned a three-count indictment charging McIver with forcibly impeding and interfering with federal law enforcement officers.

McIver tried to have the charges thrown out by claiming legislative immunity, but a federal appeals court rejected that nonsense on Wednesday.
