As we told you on Monday, California Gov. Gavin Newsom got butthurt after a planeload of illegal immigrants was dropped off in the sanctuary city of Sacramento in the sanctuary state of California. Newsom even leveled false imprisonment and kidnapping charges against Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who he thinks he’s running against in 2024. Fortunately, DeSantis kept receipts, posting video of the migrants signing release forms and happily volunteering for the free trip to California.
The real charge here is false advertising. Law professor Jonathan Turley takes a look at Newsom’s previous outreach to illegal immigrants:
California officials insisted that the consent must have been fraudulent, which seems a strange argument that the state itself is not an inducement. Pitching the opportunities and protections of California as a sanctuary state is found on the state's own websites……

Given California’s ample package of benefits for undocumented migrants — ranging from free college to driver’s licenses, cash assistance and food stamps — it was no deception for Florida to highlight the Golden State’s status as a sanctuary state.
It was the same thing with the 50 or so illegal immigrants who voluntarily hopped a plane to Martha’s Vineyard. They saw it as a step on the way to their destination of Boston, which similarly had put out brochures advertising the state to illegal immigrants.

Turley writes in The Messenger:
There is nothing unlawful about conveying individuals who are lawfully in the country pending their immigration hearings. Indeed, public interest groups and the federal government do so regularly, including late-night flights to various cities. Many migrants are released soon after capture, including some without a hearing date or court dates that are years in the future. They are then left to their own devices and destinations.
Moreover, it is not clear how transporting migrants who entered the country illegally to another state is a violation of law. If so, there would be a host of local Democratic and federal officials who could be charged on that basis. New York City recently sent migrants to other cities without their permission or prior notice; Democratic leaders in El Paso, Texas, have also arranged such transports.
None of these were denounced as state-sanctioned kidnapping — because they weren’t.
The Biden administration is flying migrants all over the country all the time.
Would seem like a no-brainer for an illegal immigrant to go to CA.

Well, I do have to admit that the only way anyone could get me to California these days is through kidnapping!

Immigrants were promised help in finding jobs and lodging in California. They were not provided this assistance. That’s fraud

What this does is mocks the idiots who talk a big game about sanctuary but really want other states to be forced to take them.

Seems that California has a losing argument and its governor is just trying to intimidate and harass the governors of other states. Just my opinion.

As we said yesterday, the one who should be brought up on charges is Newsom, for promising housing and jobs and driver’s licenses and free medical care and free college to illegals.
