As Twitchy reported Tuesday, the Supreme Court ruled 6-3 that Maine’s tuition assistance program must cover religious schools. A lot of liberals, including Justice Sonia Sotomayor, were concerned that the Supreme Court was continuing “to dismantle the wall of separation between church and state that the Framers fought to build.”
Daily Beast columnist Wajahat Ali thought he had conservatives who supported the decision backed into a corner: What if the Church of Satan decided to open a school in Maine? Hey, if the Church of Satan wants to open up a school and parents want to send their kids there, great.
Ali doubled down and suggested that private Islamic and Jewish schools open up all over Maine. That would show ’em.
Private Islamic schools and Jewish schools should open up all over Maine. The state has to fund you now so take advantage of it. Move your communities there as well. Let's see what the Supreme Court says…

TFW the political argument used to attack the Right about Muslims and Jews potentially using a voucher program, is actually countered by the amicus briefs filed by Muslims and Orthodox Jews in support of that very program.
The Left needs better talking points on this issue. pic.twitter.com/uTZP16K7pY

What’s wrong with Jewish and Islamic schools and why would the people of Maine be so upset over them?

I don’t know any conservatives who would be against the idea that religious Jews and Muslims should be able to send their kids to schools that reflect their beliefs and values. Especially after viewing the public school offerings on @libsoftiktok

No drag queen story hour at the private Islamic schools 😁

Yes, the Council of Islamic Schools in North America supported this, and SCOTUS was aware of this because they filed an amicus brief. Do you disagree with the Council of Islamic Schools in North America?

What if I told you that there are already school choice programs across the country in which Jewish and Muslim schools already participate?
— Jason Bedrick (@JasonBedrick) June 21, 2022
Yeah, we have thousands of students attending those schools here in Florida. Not a big deal.
— Patrick R (@PatrickRGibbons) June 21, 2022
Supreme Court would allow it because that already exists
— Zaid Jilani (@ZaidJilani) June 21, 2022
Well, actually, if there are enough students who want to attend such schools then they are entitled to take that funding with them.
You seem to be the only one who finds that alternative offensive.

These already exist across the country and are covered by this ruling.

Was the idea of Muslims moving to Maine to school their kids supposed to be scary or something?
