We have no idea who Dylan Ratigan is, but we do know his four-step plan to end gun violence in the country. First, have the government “buy back” guns for $5,000 a piece, and after that, offer $5,000 to anyone who rats out their neighbor for having a gun.
Of course, it all starts with banning “assault weapons.”
1. Ban all semi-automatic assault weapons.
2. Offer buy-back $5000/gun for three months. No questions asked.
3. After 3-months. Possession is a felony. Offer $5000 for anyone who reports possession w/no questions asked.
4. Background checks, mental health & licenses.— Dylan Ratigan (@DylanRatigan) June 6, 2022
Step 5. Bag up all of the confiscated AR-15s and send them to Ukraine. We’ve seen communities try gun buybacks before, and we’ve seen some of the “guns” they’ve bought back.
The government can't buy back something they never owned.
And LOL and your idea for $5K per gun. You want the govt to print more money to pay for that?

I’m sure he does. Everyone on that side thinks that there’s an endless supply & that supply is theirs to do with as they please.

1. No.
2. The government did not buy my weapons to be able to buy them back.
3. Good luck.
4. We already have background checks. I welcome the free speech, search and seizure, and voter licenses.— Don Helpingstine (@dhelpingstine) June 6, 2022
Nah.

If your goal is to reduce the probability of gun deaths and violence, this is unlikely to achieve that.
If your goal is to catalyze civil unrest and potentially MANY more gun deaths than we see today, this is a good start.

$5000 per gun?? I built mine for about $1200. I'll take that offer 🙂

Prediction for after 3 months:
8 phone calls a day saying that @DylanRatigan has “semi-automatic assault weapons”. @DylanRatigan changes his tune on the police state.
No questions asked.

So tyranny is what you're proposing?

There’s no such thing as an assault weapon so I stopped reading after that.

It's like you have a really-bad-idea machine somewhere, that you feed it a topic, and it generates a list of all the worst possible ideas on any given subject.

Wondering what happens when the first neighbor feud results in a false report and multiple deaths when the wrong home is raided.

I like this plan.
For the next three months I can sell my $1800 guns for $5000 and use the profits to buy double the guns. I can then use each new gun to plant on a rival and phone the police to have him removed and receive another $5000. Each gun begets 4 new guns.
Genius plan

I would not accept $5,000 so you cannot buy mine back. I mean you can up the price if you’d like and depending on the offer I may consider it.
— Moustache Man (@CyrionF) June 6, 2022
It’s a mandatory buy-back, though, isn’t it? So it’s confiscation. Because if you don’t sell your gun “back” to the government, you’re a criminal.
