Sure, if you’re pro-abortion without restrictions, you might think that the United States is “under siege” by Christian fundamentalists, especially those darn Catholics on the Supreme Court. We’d thought the principled conservatives™ had covered this already, with David French revealing that the seeds of the next “insurrection” are being sown in white Christian churches. However, MSNBC has read a piece by Ja’han Jones, who writes for Joy Reid’s “The ReidOut” blog (probably so homophobic hackers don’t attack it again), and decided that it needed special attention on social media.
It’s becoming increasingly clear that the United States is under siege by Christian fundamentalists and traditionalists. (via @thereidout Blog) https://t.co/EDoVJJ6dQW

Jones writes:
If you were at the center of a religious crusade, do you think you’d be able to detect it?
I ask because it’s becoming increasingly clear that the United States is under siege by Christian fundamentalists and traditionalists.
The reported text exchanges between then-Trump White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and Virginia “Ginni” Thomas, the right-wing activist and wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, gave us a window into the conservative movement’s religious push to remake America in its conservative, Christian image.
…
All this exposure is serving its purpose, drawing the ugliness of Christian nationalism out of the shadows so it can be seen, publicly, for what it is: oppressive, far-right conservatism wrapped in scripture.
Thank goodness outlets like the Associated Press having the bravery to publish pieces like, “Christian nationalism on the rise in some GOP campaigns.”
Under siege? Who is in control in the White House, the Senate and the House?

Under siege? Aren’t Americans allowed to pick their own religion and voice those values?

Maybe if the mainstream wasn't trying to push insane models of socioeconomics and sexuality that extend past the domain of science and into the domain of speculative metaphysics (effectively inventing a new secular religion) they wouldn't get so much pushback from religious folk.

No, it's under siege by Godless heathens.
We're just correcting course.

I think America is more secular now than any time since the 1970s? https://t.co/J9djeqSy74

Because I'm a third culture kid who knows a little bit about countries besides the United States and places in Europe, I have a hard time thinking of America as a very religious country.

I'd be interested in a coherent definition/explanation of 'Christian nationalism' but I don't think I'd get it from anyone talking about being 'under siege' here.

I'm not even Christian, but *good* if it gets us closer again to being led by virtuous, hard-working, non-gender- confused individuals who appreciate beauty & strength. We need a full reset. America has never been at such a point of weakness in my lifetime or for decades prior. https://t.co/KV6sjn7OqV

Iron Law of Woke Projection never misses. The seige is by the Communists. They're trying to give a brand name that sounds bad to idiots for a part of the resistance. https://t.co/Xr9543ft0H

Is it?
They're often the most mocked group in every medium not specifically religious.
They're mocked more often than you are and your network is batshit insane. https://t.co/jYgl228gpl

One could only hope this was actually true.

We applaud Jones and MSNBC for making the bogeyman Christian “traditionalists” — we know how badly they wanted to use “Christofascists.”
