Remember when Barack Obama was going to have a huge 60th birthday party on Martha’s Vineyard, but then said he was going to scale it back because of COVID-19 … and then had the full bash anyway without masks? The New York Times Annie Karni told CNN’s Jim Acosta that this was a “sophisticated, vaccinated crowd.” Apparently the sophisticated are immune.
But now with the Omicron variant spreading like wildfire, even the sophisticated, vaccinated crowd is testing positive for COVID, despite the vaccination and the booster. It was just a few days ago that Paul Waldman wrote for the Washington Post that liberals shouldn’t “give in to the temptation of schadenfreude when omicron sweeps through Red America”:

But liberals like Elizabeth Warren and Cory Booker did everything right and still tested positive for the coronavirus. So now the Post is telling people in advance not to feel ashamed if they followed the rules and contract COVID anyway.
