Here’s a claim we’d heard a lot about during the summer riots of 2020, but this is the first we’ve heard of it reaching as high as the U.S. president. Last December at his inauguration ceremony, Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon announced an end to cash bail. San Francisco District Attorney Chesa Boudin tried to argue the failings of cash bail last fall by noting that Kyle Rittenhouse had been released on bail, even though there was “strong evidence of a white shooter motivated by racial bias committing a double murder with an assault rifle.” Racial bias? The two guys he shot were white.
NEW: The White House's "gender equity" plan calls for the elimination of cash bail. @POTUS is claiming that eliminating cash bail for violent criminals is critical to promoting "gender equity and equality."

Joseph Simonson reports for the Washington Free Beacon:
A 42-page report from the White House Gender Policy Council entitled the “National Strategy on Gender Equity and Equality” outlines a “whole of government” approach to ending so-called inequality between men, women, and transgender people. Among the critical steps necessary to remedy disparities between these groups, the White House alleges, is working to overturn cash bail, a legal mechanism that proponents say helps keep violent criminals off the street.
“We will work to end cash bail and reform our pretrial system, recognizing the harm these processes cause, particularly for Black women and families,” the report says.
So cash bail causes particular harm for black women and families? And this is from the White House Gender Policy Council’s “national strategy” on gender equity?
The hell?

The report also addresses issues such as promoting gender equity in mitigating and responding to climate change, as “climate change presents unique threats to women, girls, and other underserved populations.” “Climate-related disasters hinder access to essential services, including sexual and reproductive health care,” it continues.
