New York Times says those who have chosen to stay masked, maybe forever, 'have become targets of public ire'

Now that the CDC and President Biden have said — finally — that you don’t need to wear a mask if you’ve been vaccinated against the coronavirus (or do you?), the New York Times believes that “people who choose to continue to cover their faces have become targets of public ire.” Really? We don’t think “ire” is the word for it, and for as many posts as we’ve done on videos of masked maniacs threatening the unmasked, we haven’t yet seen any videos of people wearing masks being harassed out of grocery stores by a mob.

The Times reports:

Whenever Joe Glickman heads out for groceries, he places an N95 mask over his face and tugs a cloth mask on top of it. He then pulls on a pair of goggles.

He has used this safety protocol for the past 14 months. It did not change after he contracted the coronavirus last November. It didn’t budge when, earlier this month, he became fully vaccinated. And even though President Biden said on Thursday that fully vaccinated people do not have to wear a mask, Mr. Glickman said he planned to stay the course.

In fact, he said, he plans to do his grocery run double-masked and goggled for at least the next five years.

More power to him, if that’s his choice.

Around these parts, they were set to ban plastic bags … until the coronavirus hit, and then reusable bags weren’t allowed because it turns out they were too germy. Huh.

Why is the Times reporting on this? Because it’s hard out there for the masked:

In interviews, vaccinated people who continue to wear masks said they are increasingly under pressure, especially in recent days; friends and family have urged them to relax, or even have suggested that they are paranoid. On a recent trip to the grocery store, Mr. Glickman said he was stared down by a man who entered, unmasked.

Rachel Maddow is definitely paranoid, having the need to “rewire” herself not to see the unmasked as “a threat.”

Nailed it.

If we do run across a video of a mob of people driving a man with a mask out of a store, we’ll be sure to do a post.
