We were a little too busy to get to this Wednesday after having our minds blown by Rep. Ilhan Omar retweeting a claim that a pregnant Palestinian woman and her baby niece were killed in retaliatory airstrikes by Israel after Hamas lobbed hundreds and hundreds of rockets into Israel from Gaza over the weekend — even though Islamic Jihad had taken responsibility for the misfire that killed the woman and her niece.
But now that we’ve settled down a bit, we wanted to highlight this tweet about President Trump releasing his tax returns:
? Imagine if we were able to see Trump's most recent tax returns — as required by law. https://t.co/RhFz1GXd4o
— Ilhan Omar (@IlhanMN) May 8, 2019
OK, here’s the deal. Like Speaker Nancy Pelosi said about Omar in March, “I think she has a different experience in the use of words, doesn’t understand that some of them are fraught with meaning.”
So if we really, really stretch and take into account that Omar has a different experience in the use of words, maybe she’s saying, “Imagine if there were a law that required Trump to release his tax returns.”
Or maybe she’s just not that bright.
Wait…did you really say you were “required by law” to see Donald Trump’s tax returns? Please show me what law and what legal document it can be found.

Quote the law.

You would think that a representative would know something about the law, which does not require the president to furnish his tax returns to congress. You need to stop lying about our President.

"as required by law"?!? ????♀️

An obscure 1924 law gives the House Ways and Means Committee the power to REQUEST tax returns from the Treasury Department to review in CLOSED session. Meaning not disclosed. Separation of powers issues, can NOT force the Dept. of Treasury to hand over the president’s tax returns.

Life hack: no law requires releasing tax returns. There are laws prohibiting release without a court order.
— Shaking my Head on a Daily Basis (@ShakingDaily) May 8, 2019
Not to be released to the public EVER. Only to be reviewed by a judge to see if it’s criminal. Also there has been to criminal activity that would lead to this as of yet, still public shall not be shown any details. So no, there is no law as to what dumbass is asking.
