Listen, we’re grateful that writer and “social activist” Shaun King used his social media clout to help find the killer of Jazmine Barnes, a 7-year-old Houston girl who was gunned down in a drive-by shooting last week.
CNN even wrote a nice piece on King, although it took a few paragraphs to get to the part where King put out an “all hands on deck” tweet and also tweeted to more than one million followers a mugshot of a “racist, violent a**hole” who didn’t do it.
The arrest of a man in connection with the killing of 7-year-old Jazmine Barnes came from a tip to writer and social activist Shaun King, which he passed to investigators, the sheriff says https://t.co/FLNXu395xy pic.twitter.com/a6k7nANCRd

[Harris County Sheriff Ed] Gonzalez said Sunday that one of King’s tips “provided a much different angle to what we were initially looking at,” alluding to the fact authorities initially said the suspect was a white man in his 40s driving a red pickup truck. Black is a 20-year-old African-American man. The white man in the red truck was likely just a witness, the sheriff told reporters.
That’s one way of putting it, although as he has a habit of doing, King said in a tweet that a 40-year-old man in a pickup truck shot and killed Barnes … which he didn’t.
Again, we’re glad that one of King’s tips led to the capture of the real suspect, but CNN apparently had no interest in the above tweet, or the time King falsely spread word to his million-plus followers that a Texas trooper sexually assaulted a woman — and then wrote a follow-up blog post in which he never apologized to the trooper he smeared.

.@ShaunKing spread the claim that this woman was raped & held hostage by a Texas Highway Patrol Trooper.
The Texas Department of Public Safety just released the 2-hour video from the DWI arrest… it appears as though none of it is true: https://t.co/ApQsX8VG3l pic.twitter.com/3byrFNYoBs

Again, we’re glad the real suspect was caught, but CNN kind of glossed over the part where King fingered the wrong guy … again.
Oh to be a liberal. https://t.co/VXY9Dw2pc5

You know, there are a lot of drive-by shootings in places like Chicago and Baltimore and Detroit … wonder why CNN gave this one special attention?
So white guy claims another white guy did it, turns out it was a black guy who tipped cops that it was a black guy? And now I've gone cross-eyed ? https://t.co/IUlP2Jiq3c

After spreading the wrong ethnicity and age for days…

After blaming and endangering the wrong person you might want to add.

Doing way more harm than good. It hasn't even been one year since the Sherita Dixon Cole incident and now we have this? Patterns are emerging and people should take notice #jazminebarnes #FactsFirst ? @MeritLaw @shaunking @newsone @NigelRob1 pic.twitter.com/kXbci1ZSWN

Not exactly the way fake news says it happened. This is more real:https://t.co/JqYfomHEnw

Glad they caught him. Why would the story First run with the headline ….racially motivated ?
— cleotilde (@RodneycleoR) January 7, 2019
What a great story on the surface .. too bad this activist was pushing it and giving false narratives to get it out there .. I’m glad they caught the guy which is amazing but for king and the sheriff to use it as a race story is reckless

Shaun King should have lost credibility a long time ago. Kudos to him for helping bring the person responsible to capture, but he almost ruined an innocent man with his reckless reporting.
— Justin Joyner (@justin_j6649) January 7, 2019
He also initially tried to blame it on a white guy. His tweets could get someone killed eventually.
— Sandy Lanceley (@sandylanceley) January 7, 2019
Not before he almost had an innocent white man run up a flagpole with not so much as an ounce of evidence. Shaun King is dangerous and will eventually get someone killed by false incrimination.

Somebody dropped the ball on putting the wrong ethnicity out here when no one saw clearly who it was. Not good.

Not the thing this country needs right now.
— Nathan Smith (@dextertee12) January 7, 2019
That's a big mistake to make. I'm all for trying to find killers, but Shaun should have let investigators do their jobs instead of making it a viral witchhunt for an innocent man

The only reason – ONLY REASON – CNN is reporting this is because they think they can spin it to make this SJW look like he saved the day. They’re hoping that their viewers haven’t been watching this mess unfold.

Glad that his work helped get the shooter. But let’s be honest. We would not be here if we knew from the beginning that the shooter was black. It was all teed up as a White on black hate crime.

A journalist like King should know that the words “alleged” and “person of interest” are his friends.
