Twitter turns video of real-life targeted harassment of Sen. Ted Cruz into a Twitter Moment

As Twitchy reported, Sen. Ted Cruz and his wife Heidi were harassed outside a D.C. restaurant Monday night by a mob comprising “Smash Racism DC, Resist This, DC IWW, members of DC Democratic Socialists of America, anarchists, women, sexual assault survivors, and members of the LGBTQ community.”

Smash Racism DC later tweeted a message to Cruz and “the rest of the racist, sexist, transphobic, and homophobic right-wing scum: You are not safe. We will find you.” (Somebody with half a brain at that outfit saw fit to delete that last tweet with the explicit threats in it.)

Here’s a good question:

Twitchy favorite Stephen Miller noted something Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey might want to look into: not only did Twitter allow the account to promote the video of targeted harassment against Ted Cruz and his wife … someone made it into a “Twitter Moment.”

So Twitter, which sees its No. 1 priority as “election integrity,” decided to take real-life targeted harassment against a U.S. senator and his wife and give it a featured space on the platform, where targeted harassment via tweet can result in a time-out or ban.

Look at that: “For the last three months, we have been developing a new policy to address dehumanizing language on Twitter. Language that makes someone less than human can have repercussions off the service, including normalizing serious violence.” Doesn’t “right-wing scum” fall under dehumanizing language that could encourage real-life violence?
