Remember when it was racist to call COVID-19 the “Wuhan virus” and also racist not to go to Chinatown for the Lunar New Year celebration just because of the outbreak of the coronavirus? That was beyond tedious: The mainstream media, which had been calling it the Wuhan virus, suddenly did a 180 and ran editorials on how it was racist to call it the Wuhan virus. It was only because President Donald Trump was calling it the Wuhan virus or the China virus that it became racist.
One of the few things the Trump and Biden administrations have in common is the wariness of the social media platform TikTok. This was CNN’s take during the Trump administration:
President Donald Trump's threat to ban the app TikTok adds up to more than a grumpy 70-something spoiling the kids' fun — it could herald a new hi-tech iron curtain that divides the world | Analysis by @StCollinson and @husca https://t.co/qOz6xmebYv

“A new high-tech iron curtain that divides the world” — we haven’t heard CNN writing about a grumpy 80-year-old trying to spoil the kids’ fun. If we remember correctly (and we might be wrong), government employees are banned from having TikTok on government-owned devices. That hasn’t stopped Biden from sending out a few lame TikTok videos of his own and briefing TikTok influencers about the war in Ukraine:

There’s more talk about banning the Chinese-owned video platform, and Rep. Jamaal Bowman took to the House triangle to urge the Biden administration to not be racist toward China.
“Let’s not be racist toward China… because American companies have done tremendous harm to American people” Bowman says before talking about needing to break up big tech

One thing that’s nice for those of us on the ‘ban tiktok’ side of things is that supporters of tiktok inevitably sound like huge clowns https://t.co/9tvg7xoRvR

We know they are all a threat. Oh, did he mean TikTok wasn't a threat?

I think his bank records need to be subpoenaed. Is TikTok paying him to be their ambassador?

Good question. Do we want to be abused and exploited by the Chinese or by our own government?

New today from Project Veritas, by the way:

PLEASE — call people who want to ban TikTok racist. We already know Joe Biden’s a racist, though he does have a soft spot for China.
Breaking News: The Biden administration is demanding the Chinese company that owns TikTok sell the app or face a possible ban due to national security concerns. https://t.co/ZshM9YnZ3x

But wait, there’s more. Right after White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told the press that President Biden is concerned with the national security implications, Bowman explained why Republicans want to ban TikTok:

Update:
Uh-oh … another racist Republican with no swag is hating on China:
Schumer says there are “serious security concerns with TikTok” but declines to endorse an outright ban. He said the Senate will look at the issue “very carefully.”
