Hey VIP folks — I’m thinking of making all posts about The Dispatch crew VIP posts so if they want to read about us being mean to them, they’ll have to pay for a subscription first. We used to respect Jonah Goldberg’s writing — “Liberal Fascism” is great — and David French’s too, but Trump broke them both, which I suppose makes me a “Trumpite” in French’s eyes.
As Twitchy reported, Politico did a “human interest” piece on congressional candidate Jennifer-Ruth Green which happened to include details of her sexual assault that occurred while she was in the military. Green blamed Rep. Frank Mrvan or his supporters for trying to smear her, although Politico claims the documents were obtained by a public records request and provided to them “by a person outside the Mrvan campaign.”
The Left has been trying to shame Republicans, whom they assume are all Christians, for voting for Herschel Walker over Raphael Warnock. Their faith should compel them to sit out this election, see.
PoliMath is waiting for The Dispatch to write about how it’s un-Christian to vote for Mrvan after his campaign pulled that stunt.
Really looking forward to the Dispatch articles on how Christians can't vote for @RepMrvan because of his despicable, unethical behavior towards women https://t.co/Gg7PISCO4r
— PoliMath (@politicalmath) October 10, 2022
If you want to know why no one is listening to the "Christians can't vote for Walker" articles, it is because there is never any corresponding movement from the left (or even from the center right) when Dem candidates act in despicable ways
— PoliMath (@politicalmath) October 10, 2022
If you care so much about the character of the candidates, why don't you care very much about the character of the candidates?
— PoliMath (@politicalmath) October 10, 2022
Goldberg doesn’t know what the hostility is for.
Don’t know what the hostility is for, but I also don’t think your argument is all that solid. Saying High Moral Standard Group A (in this case “Christians”) shouldn’t have high moral standards because (alleged) Low Moral Standard Group B doesn’t — just doesn’t work for me.
— Jonah Goldberg (@JonahDispatch) October 10, 2022
Of course, it doesn’t.
Are you saying that Democrats are the Low Moral Standard Group when it comes to humiliating women who have suffered sexual assault?
— PoliMath (@politicalmath) October 10, 2022
this sounds dangerously like "Look, the only reason I despise you for not living up to a standard is because you have a standard"
Well, good news. No one has a standard now.
— PoliMath (@politicalmath) October 10, 2022
As someone who largely refuses to vote for the lesser evil, it's fine for me, myself, to set that moral standard.
But hell to others who don't abide by ANY standard to lecture the rest of us.
— Pradheep J. Shanker (@Neoavatara) October 10, 2022
Soooo…no articles from the Dispatch on this then?
— The Great and Unmatched Tim Carney (@TimCarneySTL) October 10, 2022
Plenty of Democrats are professing Christians. Your apparent policy of only holding Rs to a standard is a straightforward, if unintentional, admission on your part that you don't actually have any standards at all.
— Phil Smith (@FirearmsERP) October 10, 2022
Getting paid to shit on the base is what works for you.
— SoothingDave (@SoothingDave) October 10, 2022
Damn.
Georgia's Christians shouldn't vote for Walker because he allegedly paid for an abortion, maybe. Instead, they should stay home and let his opponent, who definitely, admittedly wants THEM to pay for all the abortions forever and ever, win.
That's A+ Sound Logic right there.
— SpaceMonkey 🏴☠️ | Time is Monkey (@SpaceMonkey_) October 10, 2022
But also.. Group A shouldn’t fall on their sword just to make a point so that Group B can win elections.
— HerculePoirot (@LauraLynn1960) October 10, 2022
So what your saying is I should vote for the guy who ridicules my belief because the guy who agrees with me on 90% of the issues did one thing I disagree with. This standard is never applied to people like Biden. Gfy Jonah.
— Dr. who TF cares (@is_tyranny) October 10, 2022
The guy from A may not be perfect, but the guy from B is going to actively fight against everything I believe in.
Voting for A should be a no brainer.
— J Of The Jay (@jabster42) October 10, 2022
Ironic for you to complain about hostility, Jonah
You occasionally let your temper get the best of you and send Tough Guy tweets with naughty words
The reason those Right of Center have hostility against being told they shouldn’t vote for their interests…
— Victor Wolff (@VictorTWolff) October 10, 2022
based on character flaws of the candidate representing their interests exists for a few reasons
1) the opponents, with a terrible policy platform, are typically just as flawed, if not more
2) many of the purportedly-moral candidates are fucking monsters behind the curtain
— Victor Wolff (@VictorTWolff) October 10, 2022
“At least Group B is consistent in their immorality” isn’t the pitch you think it is.
— Jason Storck (@jmstorck) October 10, 2022
Republicans are apparently obligated to follow the word of God as it’s basically understood (“The Handmaid’s Tale” come true), while Christians in the “country over party” crowd come up with hot takes like “Jesus never talked about abortion” and if Jesus Christ were alive today (He is) Republicans would call him a groomer.
The hostility is for the fact that your garbage publication only attacks conservatives.
You fraud. https://t.co/uMuTNcDcCQ
