It was mid-2020 when Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman announced he was going to retire from the military, blaming the Trump White House and its “campaign of bullying [and] intimidation.” When Vladimir Putin invaded Ukraine, naturally Vindman immediately placed the blame on Donald Trump. (He later also blamed Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and her “pro-Putin party”, saying she had blood on her hands and the American people would not forget.)
Now Vindman is announcing that he’s in Ukraine in a war zone — kind of like how Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky and first lady Olena Zelenska were in a war zone with Annie Liebovitz doing a photo shoot for the cover of Vogue.
I’m in Ukraine in a war zone because I think I can help.
1) I’m meeting with senior military and political leadership to better understand how this war is going and how it might end to better advise leaders and the public. I think you can only do that when are on the ground.
