FBI agent who oversaw the Gretchen Whitmer kidnapping case now in charge of office overseeing January 6 investigation

Last week, Rep. Dan Bishop posted a Twitter thread about the many questions he had for the FBI about the plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer. “Every step of the way, the Whitmer plot was directed and encouraged by government agents,” Bishop tweeted. “It required approval at the highest levels of the DOJ. What we still don’t know — Who approved this op? Who oversaw it?”

As Twitchy reported earlier, Sen. Ted Cruz gave FBI Director Christopher Wray a hard time Thursday at a hearing, asking him to explain why the Justice Department thinks Gadsden and Betsy Ross flags are “indicative of militia violent extremism.”

Cruz also asked Wray about the Whitmer kidnapping plot and learned that the FBI special agent who oversaw the office overseeing the Whitmer kidnapping plot is not overseeing the Washington, D.C. office that is overseeing the January 6 investigation.

And they wonder why the public has lost its trust in institutions like the FBI.
