Remember when Target punted and said it would sell Abigail Shrier’s “Irreversible Damage: The Transgender Craze That’s Seducing Our Daughters” after all, after saying it had removed the book from its online selection after at least one Twitter complaint?
Here’s video of protesters outside Powell’s bookstore in Portland yelling, “Don’t sell Andy Ngo’s book!” As we told you the other day, racist Sarah Jeong was wondering when Twitter was going to permanently suspend Ngo for “incitement” for posting the mug shots of left-wing extremists alongside the charges against them. Now he has a book out — “Unmasked: Inside Antifa’s Radical Plan to Destroy Democracy” — and bookstores are being pressured not to carry it.
"STOP SELLING ANDY NGO'S BOOK"
"HELL NO, WE WON'T NGO"A crowd of #antifa have gathered outside @Powells bookstore in downtown Portland to demand they pull my book from their website. The store has already announced it won't stock the book on shelves. pic.twitter.com/bsX5HMGDSW

Yeah, check out this backbone:
At Powell’s, a lot of our inventory is hand-picked and hand-promoted. And a lot of our inventory is not hand-picked. Unmasked by Andy Ngo came to us through an automatic data feed via one of our long-term partners, Hachette Book Group. (1 of 3)

This book will not be placed on our shelves. We will not promote it. That said, it will remain in our online catalog. We carry a lot of books we find abhorrent, as well as those that we treasure. (2 of 3)

In other words, don’t smash our windows and loot our store.
We believe it is the work of bookselling to do so. Please see our full commitment to free speech here: https://t.co/pqnaVE6D2W (3 of 3)

Don't buy from this company. They just announced they're caving to the antifa mob and won't place Andy Ngo's book on their shelves. https://t.co/L7d3aytXiP

Excellent. I’ll purchase it from Amazon.

But it says this on your website: “And because the only people we’re beholden to are our customers and ourselves…”

A better approach is to create a list where people who can't handle opposing ideas have you protect them from seeing certain books. This is similar to how gambling addicts can ask casinos to bar them. The rest of us don't need to be protected from scary books.

Strangely I can buy Mein Kampf no problem.
— Chris Welch (@Chris_AWelch) January 11, 2021
Too late. Already ordered it.
— TresHall (@gingertreshall) January 11, 2021
That’s fine. I already pre-ordered online. If I knew a bookstore that stocked it, I’d buy from them.
Welcome to 1984

This is some of the best free advertising you could have gotten. Going to order it tonight.

Awesome publicity!

Hilariously, without their protest, I would have almost no idea that the book existed.

Someone tell Antifa 1st amendment rights go both ways.

Favorite part is when she tries to use her kindergarten hand signal to get the rage mob behind her to quiet down so she can make yell at the owner, but the mob won't have it… they wanna scream and gnash those teeth.
Congrats, America.
Less than half of y'all voted for this.

If these people actually read books they might be more embarrassed about being part of today's book burning brigade https://t.co/ABxZejF9x8
— Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) January 11, 2021
The crackdown continues … maybe Twitter really will ban Ngo for inciting these protesters to mob a bookstore.
