'Can a fan be traded?' - Report says some Miami Dolphins players want out after just one game

There is the temptation to say that these are unprofessional players, but when looking at the evidence there may be a point. And it also may be too late.

Sunday was the season openers for many teams in the NFL, and in South Florida it got ugly, quickly. The Miami Dolphins hosted the Baltimore Ravens and promptly were trounced 59-10. It was a bad enough performance that OJ Simpson of all people had negative things to say. But he was not the only one.

There were a number of significant achievements yesterday. The team gave up a franchise record in yards allowed, tied their record for most touchdowns permitted, all en route to the worst home loss in team history. According to Mike Florio of NBC Sports, a number of players saw this result and immediately got on their phones.

Per a league source with knowledge of the situation, multiple Dolphins players contacted their agents after Sunday’s season-opening blowout loss and directed them to attempt to engineer trades elsewhere. The players believe that the coaching staff, despite claiming that they intend to try to win, aren’t serious about competing and winning and by all appearances have bought into the notion that the Dolphins will take their lumps now in the hopes of laying the foundation via high draft picks for building a successful team later.

There is some sound reasoning behind this. In the off-season the team moved its starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill, failed to draft a replacement and instead picked up two lesser quality starters, and just before the start of the season traded away a pro-bowl lineman and their #1 wide receiver for draft picks. There is every indication of the team tanking the season to rebuild with the draft.

And many are noticing.

Of course there is one slight problem with this gambit. If you are on a team that performed like a Division-3 college playing an SEC opponent exactly how much market value do you believe you have??

Leave it to the meme masters to retrofit the team logo to a more appropriate image.

That works, but wouldn’t a “Fish Tank” be even more fitting?? (Yes, we KNOW dolphins are mammals, don’t get petty on us now…)

Yet as horrid as things may appear for Miami fans, there is one saving grace to remember.

Despite all of the mayhem, yea — things have not become THAT bad!
