There’s no third term for President Donald Trump. Sorry to disappoint. Even though the next presidential election is still a few years off, that means we need to look to the future of MAGA. Who will carry the mantle and continue what Trump has done to transform the Republican Party? Well, Trump has already told us who he thinks that is, and it’s obvious. It's his vice president, JD Vance. But who would make the perfect running mate? Trump sounded off on that as well, Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Start here. (READ)
President Donald Trump says Vice President JD Vance will "most likely" be the MAGA heir for 2028, floats Marco Rubio as a running mate.
Doocy: "You could clear the entire Republican field right now. Do you agree that the heir apparent to MAGA is JD Vance?"
Trump: "Well, I think most likely. In all fairness, he's the vice president."
"I think Marco is also somebody that maybe would get together with JD in some form."
Here’s Trump laying out the details. (WATCH)

There you have it!
The vice president almost always has the inside track, but how do MAGA posters on X feel? They’re quite positive.
Will JD be 48?

JD and Rubio sound fantastic!

A Vance/Rubio ticket is definitely something I would vote for. A fresh young ticket that has had experience is not a bad ticket at all.
— The Facts Dude (@The_Facts_Dude) August 5, 2025
He should be. Wouldn't it be wonderful if the Republicans didn't have a typical primary tearing each other apart, giving the Democrats fodder?
— Frustrated Patriot (@bryswe) August 5, 2025
I don't see why not, but we've still got 3 + years to worry about it
— Malormski - 🇺🇲🇺🇲 (@Malorm287144) August 5, 2025
The Republican Party uniting quickly around one candidate would be great.
It’s still early, though, posters warn that the Democrats may actually field a 'decent' candidate. Unless something major happens, we don’t see a pendulum swing back to the left since so many Democrats are certifiably insane with policy and cultural positions at odds with middle America.
Way too early to tell.
— Collin Rugg (@CollinRugg) August 6, 2025
Democrats will likely have a decent candidate (unlike 2024) so it will definitely be more challenging.
Trump has to do good on a lot of his promises or else the pendulum will swing back to Ds.
That won't happen, the pendulum has been clinging to the right. The Democrats have shown themselves like the wizard behind the curtain. It's going to take the Democrats a long time to get out of this one...
— Urban405 (@RealUrban405) August 6, 2025
They keep digging, too. Finding new ways to be out of touch. Who predicted that the Dems would freak out over Sydney Sweeney? See, new ways!
Considering the baggage the so-called top Democrat Party presidential contenders are carrying, who knows who the ‘decent’ candidates would be? Posters give it a stab, though.
They have no one decent. There is no one. They're building uo Pocahontas as trustworthy. You know why. Lol

Who? Newsom????? Spartacus? JCB Prtizker??????
— The Toon Libertarian (@ToonLibertarian) August 6, 2025
There is no "decent" candidate for the dems lol you have to be joking. 😂
— WickedAfterlife (@WAServers) August 6, 2025
That they’re considering Pete Buttigieg and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez ‘decent’ candidates should be a red flag for how shallow their bench is.
That said, here’s something that will at least be entertaining.
Democrats will have their first real primary in like 20 years.
— QZ (@qz6784) August 6, 2025
Dems MIGHT put up a solid candidate, IF they have a real primary, which they haven't done since 2012
— Stephen E. Gotwals (@StephenGotwals) August 6, 2025
Once discovery in these referrals is publicized, it's gonna be worse for the Democrat party
If we can fortify the integrity of our elections, Im not sure any Dem will win again
The Russiagate Hoax could throw the Democrat Party for a loop if indictments turn into convictions for any of the players.
That’s why some Republicans are eyeing Tulsi Gabbard as a VP candidate in 2028, or even the top of the ticket.
I’d be in for Tulsi as VP too.
— Nick Sortor (@nicksortor) August 5, 2025
Might even prefer Tulsi.
I guess we’ll see!
Tulsi wouldn't be a bad choice.
— James McIntyre (@JamesMcInt58853) August 5, 2025
I want Tulsi for pres.
— Doulos to Christ (@isolatedtalker) August 6, 2025
I still like @ByronDonalds 🤷🏼♂️ but JD is being prepped 👏🏻
— Mr_Pendulum_ (@Mr_Pendulum_) August 5, 2025
Hmmm I don’t see the D’s having a decent candidate, but I do see the R’s having multiple exceptional candidates. I’d love to vote for Kristi Noem, first female President. The leftists would flip out!

Here’s something to consider if you’re MAGA: we could have a GOP presidential candidate who is in their 40s. Even Rubio, being in his 50s, is considered ‘young.' If Vance or Gabbard becomes president, it will be the first time the Republican Party has had a president in their 40s since Theodore Roosevelt. Trump knows he needs someone youthful to carry MAGA forward.
