Apparently there hasn’t been a Twitchy post about Elizabeth Warren in over a month. What a shame that is. I know I’ve missed her around here! Haven’t you?
So let’s do a post about her today. Today seems like the perfect time to do one, what with it being Tax Day and all, and Elizabeth Warren lovin’ her some taxes.
She loves taxes so much, in fact, that she’s bragging about all the great strides that the Democratic Party has recently made with regard to taxation:
On #TaxDay, here's a reminder of what Dems have accomplished to help fix our tax code:
▪️ A 15% tax on billionaire corporations, so @Amazon can’t just pay $0
▪️ IRS funding to catch wealthy tax cheats and make it easier for honest Americans to file their taxes and claim refunds— Elizabeth Warren (@SenWarren) April 18, 2023
Those were huge wins, but we've still got work to do to unrig our tax code:
▪️ Pass a #WealthTax so the ultra-rich pay their fair share
▪️ End tax breaks for giant multinationals offshoring jobs
▪️ Repeal the $2 trillion Trump tax giveaway to corporations and the wealthy— Elizabeth Warren (@SenWarren) April 18, 2023

We can make our tax system fairer AND raise revenues to ensure we can build a brighter future for all of our kids. It's a win-win-win.

Wow. Three wins! So … which win is mine, then? Because as I see it, I’ve paid more than my fair share in taxes given what I actually get out of the deal. I imagine there are a lot of other taxpayers out there who feel the same way. And I imagine there are a lot of other taxpayers out there who don’t understand how 87,000 new IRS employees is supposed to make us feel safer somehow.
A. Amazon paid billions of dollars in wage, income, and property taxes…like most corporations. B. That new funding that she brags about will invariably used to go after low-income folks. How do I know that? Because you don't hire tens of thousands of new agents… https://t.co/5qAfztoVlj

…to go after a few hundred (roughly 750) billionaires and the IRS has historically audited lower income folks at a higher rate than billionaires.

Remember when Joe Biden promised that people making over $400,000 dollars a year wouldn’t pay a penny more in taxes? And then his then-press secretary Jen Psaki “clarified” that the threshold applied to households rather than individuals? And remember when we got the shocking news that the Inflation Reduction Act would raise taxes on anyone making over $30,000 a year? If you’re like me, you were probably thinking of getting some kind of side hustle so you could make a little extra money to supplement your income. Maybe selling stuff on eBay or something. Well, don’t forget that the Biden administration was thinking of that, too — and trying to figure out how to capitalize on it:
"wealthy tax cheats" = people who make over $600 on Venmo. https://t.co/frqg1vmlzy
— David Harsanyi (@davidharsanyi) April 18, 2023
Quick, send out the agents to get that guy who made 601 bucks on Venmo. https://t.co/jBi4GKsMve

You're really going to run with this? Everybody knows that the additional IRS muscle isn't for rich people with paid accountants, it's to make sure Jane-with-a-side-gig reports every penny to the govt. so they can waste it.https://t.co/55ZKbylwmJ https://t.co/V6gsP6euZc pic.twitter.com/4SWpkeTjES

Nothing helps the IRS catch wealthy tax cheats more than forcing low and middle income families to report every $600 transaction https://t.co/rMM9omqddO

American taxpayers are getting squeezed harder than ever, and here’s Elizabeth Warren throwing a party over it — and expecting us to foot the bill, no doubt.
Made 19k last year, and the fed refunded me $62.

The billionaire corporations will pass the expense on to the consumer. Thanks for that.

If this is win-win-winning, I’m terrified to find out what losing looks like.
So Democrats have made things worse? https://t.co/8YtuJtNZKQ
— Pradheep J. Shanker (@Neoavatara) April 18, 2023
Pretty much. As per usual.
You actually think that's "fixing" our tax code?
Our tax code is a labyrinthine set of rules that no one knows in totality. You task the individual to figure out what's owed, then penalize mistakes as if they're willful lies, and you think hurting job growth is a "fix"? https://t.co/KvSW75qsD8

She’s not this ignorant, but she thinks that you are. https://t.co/TfBMvIgbPq

Yeah, well, she thought wrong.
