Republicans must be exhausted today, what with all that pouncing they’ve been doing over Joaquin Castro trying to doxx private citizens who donated to Donald Trump. Think they’ve got it in themselves to pounce a little more? NBC News seems to think so:
Trump campaign says Rep. Joaquin Castro posting publicly available information about the names and employers of some San Antonio-area donors to President Trump's re-election was "reckless and irresponsible." https://t.co/qunMcq0x8Q
— NBC News (@NBCNews) August 7, 2019
The information was publicly available, you guys. What’s the big deal?
Almost as reckless and irresponsible as @realDonaldTrump @POTUS emboldening white nationalists and being the DIRECT cause of violence in America right @WhiteHouse ?
— DanMan (@DanMan07076337) August 7, 2019
It’s public information and why wouldn’t they be proud of their donations?
— Nancy V (@nev323) August 7, 2019
Why is this irresponsible? Is Trump ashamed of his backers?
— Mitchell Small (@PghDragonman) August 7, 2019
Public record is public record. The Trump who pumps up lunatic followers to the point of killing people says exposing a donor list is reckless & irresponsible? Unbelievable.
— Peggy Todd (@PeggyTo44449436) August 7, 2019
Public information, he did nothing wrong. I can thing of sooooo many more reckless and irresponsible things Trump has done. Go back under your rock!
— Juanita Clark (@Juanita71013778) August 7, 2019
Who cares what Trump says. The news media ought to be doing this. Donors are A MATTER OF PUBLIC RECORD. We ought to know who is propping up these candidates and PUBLIC officials. I hope other members of Congress will follow Castro's lead.

So I shouldn’t be able to boycott a business that gives money to a white supremacist? None of these people will end up harmed other than financially, unlike the stuff that Trumps followers do like shooting up Walmarts.
— CraigInPhoenix (@craiginphoenix) August 7, 2019
They’re only gonna be hurt financially! No one would ever get violent!
These people are rationalizing harassment campaigns against private citizens who donate to the Wrong Politician. Mission accomplished, NBC News.

so the story line isn't the actual reckless and irresponsible behavior rather the calling-out of reckless and irresponsible behavior?
— Stiles Bitchley ✫✫ (@WeWhoDieSaluteU) August 7, 2019
And the media is already coming to his rescue. Give us break. He posted it in a nice convenient format to have people either harass those people or ruin their businesses. Stop taking up for this dirtbag. Media bias again…
— MJJ (@jacktsnack) August 7, 2019
Nice objective framing, you monstrous, irresponsible hacks. https://t.co/tV64gGf9G0

The Trump campaign was right to call Castro’s actions “reckless and irresponsible.” NBC News’ brand of journalism should be viewed in the same way.
