Shapiro also points out that Rapinoe “is a very good soccer player,” but that’s not quite as juicy a soundbite, is it? Shapiro’s point is that Rapinoe is a household name these days because she’s made her sexuality a central part of her identity and parlayed that, along with her hatred of Donald Trump, into a second career as a political pundit.
