Dammit! Why didn't TIME go with this for their Person of the Year cover? [pics]

As Twitchy told you, TIME has boldly chosen journalists — sorry, “Guardians” in “the War on Truth” — as their Person of the Year.

Unfortunately their own journalists couldn’t be bothered to do a little basic journalism before making their selection:

Can we talk about the blatant dishonesty in including the Capital Gazette staff here? They didn't get attacked because they were journalists shedding light on some mysterious "truth," they were attacked by a crazy guy with a personal beef over a lawsuit. https://t.co/1NaddLUk8l

To be fair, it’s hard to focus on the truth when you’re so busy mooning over yourself.

It’s been a very bad year for journalists around the world, so this is deserved. But that has almost nothing to do with the president’s antagonism, which is what every journalist promoting this on Twitter is invoking. Which makes it I’ll-advisedly self-reverential. https://t.co/7ogCc59xJC

And speaking of self-reverence, we’d actually have a little more respect for them if they’d just acknowledged their narcissism and gone with a more honest cover. A cover like this:

Wow, powerful cover on this week's issue of TIME. pic.twitter.com/8Dq0eNd3xs

That would be honest journalism.

Dear Diary,
I'm living proof that dreams really do come true!
I would like to thank myself for making this happen, for being such an awesome dude, and for being really good at journalisming!
