As Twitchy told you, yesterday, GOP Senators Mike Lee and Tom Cotton duked it out on Twitter over a bipartisan criminal justice reform bill.
That was nothing.
Because today, Sen. Rand Paul, who’s been a pretty reliable defender of Donald Trump, is calling out the president over that statement on Saudi Arabia and Jamal Khashoggi. And he’s not mincing words:
The President indicates that Saudi Arabia is the lesser two evils compared to Iran and so the US won’t punish Saudi Arabia for the brutal killing and dismemberment of a dissident journalist in their consulate. I disagree.
— Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) November 20, 2018
We should, at the very least, NOT reward Saudi Arabia with our sophisticated armaments that they in turn use to bomb civilians.
— Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) November 20, 2018
I’m pretty sure this statement is Saudi Arabia First, not America First. I’m also pretty sure John Bolton wrote it.
— Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) November 20, 2018
Oh man. Wonder how that claim will go over with the president.
I will continue to press for legislation to stop the Saudi arms sales and the war in Yemen.
— Senator Rand Paul (@RandPaul) November 20, 2018
Welp.
Lesser of two evils? There should be at least some price to pay! I am very disappointed to say the least.

So … will anything come of Paul’s outrage?
How about putting some action behind these words Senator⁉️
— PierParty (@PierParty) November 20, 2018
Then do something about it.
— Democracy ???? (@ChrisSobolowski) November 20, 2018
So, what are you going to actually do about it?
— Matthew Fortgang (@mattfortgang1) November 20, 2018
Stay tuned to find out.
