'WTF is wrong with you?' Chris Cillizza proves his critics right with this take on Elle's awful election stunt

As Twitchy told you, Elle Magazine is getting spanked hard for their pathetic Get Out the Vote stunt masquerading as celebrity gossip:

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are splitting up ?? https://t.co/epwKG7aSBg pic.twitter.com/u7qqojWVlR

— ELLE Magazine (US) (@ELLEmagazine) October 18, 2018

Naturally, CNN’s Chris Cillizza is a huge fan:

This is brilliant https://t.co/piqIa5j1dZ

— Chris Cillizza (@CillizzaCNN) October 18, 2018

Because of course Chris Cillizza thinks it’s brilliant. Of course he does.

Chris Cillizza thinks posting fake news to trick the stupid @ELLEmagazine followers into clicking on a link to voter registration is "brilliant"

Very on brand for Chris Cillizza I must say. pic.twitter.com/CYRt6iPu1A

— Caleb SkHull ??? (@CalebJHull) October 18, 2018

It doesn’t get much more Chris Cillizza than that.

Brilliant? WTF is wrong with you?

— Jennine (@jenninejones) October 18, 2018

NARRATOR: It wasn't brilliant. https://t.co/AD7oK79mbx

— RBe (@RBPundit) October 18, 2018

Isn't it wonderful to spread false rumors about someone's marriage for clicks and crass political benefit? How clever!

— A Ban For All Seasons (@Michigan_P1) October 18, 2018

A CNN employee believes posting fake news is brilliant. Typical.

— MN Legal (@mnfreelegal) October 18, 2018

Using fake stories to get people to vote. This is basic CNN strategy.

— Stephy Wilson (@stephywilson83) October 18, 2018

Fair point.

The commentary here is that readers need to be lured to vote with Kardashian gossip clickbait.

— Matt Whitlock ?? (@mattdizwhitlock) October 18, 2018

Not brilliant. Actually this is insulting to all women…why use click bait for voter registration? Do you assume readers of @ELLEmagazine aren’t smart enough to understand the importance of registering to vote?

— cloud9yogi in SLC (@darylwolke) October 18, 2018

Chris Cillizza isn’t smart enough to understand that what Elle did is not only pathetic and shameful but quite arguably unethical.

Classic Cillizza. This is trash and makes Elle look bad. How do you have a job man? You have failed up spectacularly. Honestly one of the dumbest public figures out there.

— PastaFace PizzaBoy (@Couple_o_toes) October 18, 2018

I can’t believe this guy got a job in journalism. At least he’s a great example of you can be anything you want to be no matter how bad you are at it.

— Rob Berretta (@Berrettaman28) October 18, 2018

Wow, bad look. Great job, @CNN
