Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are splitting up ?? https://t.co/epwKG7aSBg pic.twitter.com/u7qqojWVlR
— ELLE Magazine (US) (@ELLEmagazine) October 18, 2018
Obviously you need to click right now to read all about it. Oh, wait:
Think that’s pretty clever, don’t you, Elle?
Magazine is posting fake clickbait article, leads you to page to register to vote https://t.co/LjFdFqEZrF

Keep helping, Elle.

Omg this is just flagrant electioneering. Wow. https://t.co/3aYNmhvHwb
— Andrea Ruth (@AndreaNRuth) October 18, 2018
When a random tweeter did this it was clever but now you’re just stealing their tweet and also spreading fake news. https://t.co/RDZg4bQsMc

.@Twitter should take action against your account for spreading FakeNews & posting misleading content links.
— ???? (@9Joe9) October 18, 2018
The literal definition of fake news. Nice job guys.
— Phil (@earlp1231) October 18, 2018
This was a gross misdirection and lie. Shame on u
— Glutton4Pnshmnt (@Glutton4Pnshmnt) October 18, 2018
Kim and Kanye are not splitting up, and Elle is cruelly spreading fake news about someone else's marriage to try to get people to vote. This is sick. https://t.co/ng9cjXBlqU
— Amber Athey (@amber_athey) October 18, 2018
You assholes. This combines three things I absolutely hate: people shitting on Kim and Kanye's relationship, misleading headlines, and people's foolish obsession with get-out-the-vote efforts & civic duty (when REALLY tons of people are terribly low information voters). https://t.co/EZCOLmhTa2
— Liz Wolfe (@lizzywol) October 18, 2018
Yeah definitely reported this shit as spam. There's clickbait, then there is straight up lying,
— Sweet D. (@dorota916) October 18, 2018
Actually this is insulting to all women…why use click bait for voter registration? Do you assume readers of @ELLEmagazine aren’t smart enough to understand the importance of registering to vote?
— cloud9yogi in SLC (@darylwolke) October 18, 2018
Seriously @ELLEmagazine? You really think that little of your readers?! Wow!!
— 〽️ Go Blue! (@mjpete80) October 18, 2018
Oh, I see. ELLE is calling all their readers dumbasses that won’t vote unless they’re tricked into it by pop celebrity headlines. Good job?
— Yusef Smith (@ToolboxSmith) October 18, 2018
This is trash nonsense. Who do you think you are reaching with this? Guess what? One can be civic minded and interested in celebrity gossip. Do better.
— roxane gay (@rgay) October 18, 2018
Okay. That's not ethical or appropriate. I'm all for get out the vote efforts, but this is misleading and fuels the "fake news" fire…
— ?Just Jake? (@JustJake_91) October 18, 2018
Deceptive practices are generally frowned upon with regards to electioneering, btw. https://t.co/dgefFPHrib

Update:
Oh, hey, it was just a crime of “passion,” you guys:
We made a bad joke. Our passion for voter registration clouded our judgement and we are sincerely sorry. https://t.co/cYGGrpfBCz
— ELLE Magazine (US) (@ELLEmagazine) October 18, 2018
Whatever.
Not good enough, Elle. Not nearly good enough. You also need to apologize for potentially encouraging nitwits to register to vote. https://t.co/tzF3ktY13G https://t.co/FPq9rsPe8e
