'RATIOOOOOOOO'! Salon's hot Black Panther take is getting TORCHED (with good reason!)

Salon gonna Salon. That’s a given.

But yesterday, Salon Salon’d even harder than usual with this observation about impending blockbuster “Black Panther”:

“Black Panther” is the first blockbuster-format release featuring a black hero front and center https://t.co/WVMrYmoECd

Denzel Washington is probably giving this the side-eye. Glory anyone? Book of Eli? https://t.co/lv8M8UL0Zy

Uh, You folks do realize that Blade was first major marvel movie, right? Every Marvel movie out before that was low budget, direct to DVD.

Also… Spawn came out a year before.

I'm seriously hoping Black Panther is great. Please don't drag it down with this nonsense.

— ?It's?Almost ⛄️Christmas? (@jtLOL) February 7, 2018

So you forgot about the existence of Will Smith?

— Jamie Lockett (@jlockett02) February 7, 2018

This tweet basically just erased the entire existence of Will Smith https://t.co/r3UjkNiHJI

Will Smith: “What about ID4?”
Salon Content Monkey: “Never saw it.”
WS: “Hancock?”
SCM: “Nope.”
WS: “Any of the Men in Black movies?”
SCM: “What are you talking about old man?”
WS: “I AM LEGEND? PLEASE TELL ME YOU HAVE SEEN I AM LEGEND.”
SCM: “I’m calling security."

Oof.

I have to get off Twitter for a while because I have real work to do, but no one should ever stop dunking on Salon for that stupid BLACK PANTHER tweet. Even if all the jokes have been made. Keep making them. pic.twitter.com/0GQUTUxETb

— Sonny Bunch (@SonnyBunch) February 7, 2018

Don’t stop. EVER.

Update:

Oh man … it took them almost a full day, but Salon finally got around to realizing they’d royally screwed up:

CORRECTION: A Feb. 7 story, “Here’s what the critics are saying about ‘Black Panther’ — it’s a ‘masterpiece,'” said that Black Panther was “the first blockbuster-format release featuring a black hero front and center.” (1/2)

— Salon (@Salon) February 7, 2018

That’s … really different from their original tweet. Anyone else wanna call B.S. on that excuse?
