Jennifer Rubin wants you to 'stop disparaging' idea of Biden making unconstitutional debt ceiling move

I’ve had trouble shaking this feeling that something is missing in my life. You ever get that feeling? Well, it’s taken me a while, but I think I may have figured out what it is.

Jennifer Rubin.

Now, let me be clear: I don’t miss her in the usual sense. Like, I don’t wish I could be around her more or read her dumb columns more. Rather, I miss kicking her around. Mocking her is an activity that is never not fun, but according to my calculations, I haven’t written a post explicitly about her since late February. That’s almost three months ago! And my kicking and mocking muscles are itching like crazy. So thank the Washington Post Gods of Journalism and Opinion Writing that this appeared just yesterday, not a moment too soon:

If you love the headline, you’ll love this:

Stop disparaging the blatantly unconstitutional power grab, says Norma McNormsface.

She writes:

For starters, Biden never said he wouldn’t negotiate with Republicans. He never said a debt ceiling bill had to pass before negotiations commenced. For months, he said that he would not negotiate over the debt ceiling but he would talk about spending cuts. He insisted Republicans put forth their own budget — as he did — to lay out the parties’ contrasting visions. Only when McCarthy brought up and passed a spending bill did the president agree to serious negotiations.

Narrator: The White House literally said they wouldn’t negotiate with Republicans on the debt ceiling.

More:

In a New York Times op-ed, Laurence H. Tribe cogently argued the 14th Amendment approach is valid. He wrote, “The right question is whether Congress — after passing the spending bills that created these debts in the first place — can invoke an arbitrary dollar limit to force the president and his administration to do its bidding.” He answered: “There is only one right answer to that question, and it is no.”

Narrator: Laurence H. Tribe has never cogently argued anything, ever.

Here’s how Rubin concludes:

Biden benefits from playing good cop, bad cop. While his emissaries talk to Republicans (who now understand their outlandish budget cuts aren’t happening), a discharge position, a proposal to invoke the 14th Amendment and pressure the 18 Republicans from districts Biden won in 2020 can ensure that Biden need not give away much. That gives him the best chance to avoid imperiling a stunning economic recovery or rewarding Republicans for their temper tantrum.

“Avoid imperiling a stunning economic recovery.” Ah, yes. That’s the good stuff, right there.

I’ve never done a single drug in my life, and i don’t plan to. That said, I can’t help but be kinda curious about whatever Jennifer Rubin is on right now. Sometimes I’d like to be able to pretend I live in an alternate reality, and I envy Jen that she’s able to actually do that.

Of course I’m not sure there’s any drug on the planet that’s actually powerful enough to break my brain as badly as Jen’s brain has been broken.

Flashback:

Awkward. I’d love to get her current take on her former position, wouldn’t you? Because her current position is really something.

Jen Rubin’s career is just a *fart noise* at this point.
